Jumping to Conclusions...

Life is funny sometimes...
I left work this afternoon, after an extreamly uneventful and boring day- and decided I'd like a Diet Coke... So I drove down to the end of the road, to the Wendy's and went through the drive through and got one real quick before I proceeded on the freeway home. As I drove away, I licked the top of the cup, so it wouldnt leak all over me, and as I did so, I got the strong taste of Root Beer in my mouth. Anyone who knows me well, knows I'm not a big fan of a lot of other pops. My Diet Coke is my drink of choice, next to water!! I would honestly drink water over a lot of other types of pop.
Anyways- my point was... I almost put it down, and threw a fit!! I'm not the type to turn around and throw a stink about a $2.18 drink, that I dont really need in the first place, however I was kind of upset... That is until I decided to take a drink of the said pop, just to make sure.. and realized that it was just a little Root Beer spilt on the lid, and there was really Diet Coke inside the cup!!
I realized, that its the sort of thing I do in my life, every day. Instead of taking a step back, and looking at the bigger picture, or trying to asses the situation, and make it better, I automatically jump to the "someones messed up, and now I have to deal with this problem". I realized that I need to start really thinking about the things I complain about in my life.
Maybe its from working in customer service for so long that has me looking at things that way. I dont normally complain to a worker about situations like this, but I sure have been blamed for the way things are done. "your return policy says 90 days" -"yes, for most everything except electronics, which this is, which is 30 days".. "I never opened it" -"then why is the seal broken, and everything out of place".. "They never told me about the restocking fee" -"its on the receipt. would you want to buy something for full price, thinking its new, and find out its been in someone elses hands?" "I wouldnt mind..." -"of course you wouldnt... right this second, cause you dont want to pay the fee"...
I feel like I always have to have my guard up, and defend myself right away.
I guess I wish I could say that this was a life lesson, and that I'm going to learn not to jump all over something, until I look deeper into the problem.. but lets be honest.. it probably isnt that type of situation!!
Time to make some life changes, to better myself, my attitude, and my actions...
